Freetown is a port metropolis and the capital of Sierra Leone, in West Africa. It’s known for its seashores and ancient role within the transatlantic slave trade. The vintage town’s centuries-antique Cotton Tree is a image of emancipation. On the waterfront is the King’s Yard Gate, thru which former slaves walked to freedom. The Sierra Leone National Museum includes exhibits referring to the 19th-century army leader Bai Bureh.
